PHOENIX, Arizona – February 5th, 2015 – OpenTech Alliance, Inc. announced today that the INSOMNIAC® family of self-storage kiosks achieved another year of impressive growth, with revenue from kiosks sales and related services exceeding $4 million in 2014. The number of kiosks delivered rose by 53 percent over 2013, and reflected orders largely from existing clients, new independent storage owners and self storage management groups.
The INSOMNIAC self-service kiosks make the storage process easy, effortless and offer immediate help with a live storage professional from their 2-way video service. In 2014, OpenTech published a number of success stories that demonstrated the dramatic impact kiosks are having on the financial performance of self-storage businesses:
JFK Mini Storage, in Macon Georgia, reported an average increase in net operating revenue of over $3,500 monthly since the kiosk made its debut. The property owners originally installed the kiosk to reduce labor and spend more time away from the business in the evenings and on the weekends.
Access Self Storage, in Oakland New Jersey, installed the kiosk in January of 2014 to help managers with payments and add a layer of customer convenience that was missing. The following month, owners reported an all-time high in unit rentals over the course of a month. After averaging approximately 8 new rentals monthly, the property completed 14 rentals through the kiosk alone in February of 2014.
Red Dot Storage continues to add kiosks to every new property based on a management philosophy to leverage technology that delivers the highest level of customer service and convenience, while controlling costs and increasing profits. In turn, their portfolio of properties reported an increase in occupancy between 5% – 25% at every location, while decreasing operating expenses as much as 20% after installing the kiosk.
