Safe Store Upgrades Access Control: OpenTech Alliance Makes Historic Debut in Australasia Self Storage with INSOMNIAC® CIA

Safe Store New Zealand Upgrades Self Storage Access Control with INSOMNIAC CIA

OpenTech Alliance, the PropTech leader in self storage, is pleased to announce the success of the first INSOMNIAC® CIA access control system in Australasia. The implementation of the cloud-based access control system, in partnership with Safe Store, marks a critical moment in the industry’s local technological evolution. Aaron Alsweiler, CEO of Safe Store and Member of the Self Storage Association of Australasia (SSAA) Board of Directors, managed the system’s deployment at their facility in Pakuranga, New Zealand. “Your access control infrastructure needs to be one of the most stable and solid parts of your operation — nothing upsets a customer more than when they can’t access their belongings when they want to. CIA has become a set it and forget it part of our operation — we just don’t think about it. I don’t think we’ve spoken to support now in over a month or more for anything.”

According to Alsweiler, the INSOMNIAC CIA system has garnered significant attention among Safe Store staff for its user-friendly interface and unparalleled reliability. “We piloted the system at first, and within a week my staff was begging me not to take it out. And they are probably the most change-averse staff in my operation. Now they have the Control Center on their phone and are quite comfortable using it to manage the property remotely.”

CIA Outperforms the Self Storage Access Control Competition

Having encountered significant challenges with the previous system, Alsweiler attested to the notable difference offered by CIA’s software capabilities and rapid support response when issues do arise in the 6 months the system has been in place. “Our prior access control system presented numerous issues for our properties — setup was unnecessarily complicated, and the support was challenging,” stated Alsweiler. “There was just no substance there. The transition to INSOMNIAC CIA has enabled us to operate more efficiently, with minimal disruptions and a substantial decrease in support inquiries.”

With over 20 years in the industry and intimate experience implementing self storage technology solutions, Alsweiler further highlighted the system’s impact on their daily operations. “INSOMNIAC CIA enables us, as a smaller operator, to effectively look bigger and better than we are. We offer mobile access, unique self-service features like Text Me My Code at the keypad and our staff can manage access from anywhere.” Alsweiler particularly noted the system’s robust built-in alerts and reports that enable him to get critical notifications and insights regarding onsite customer activity.

Though only currently using the system at one facility, Alsweiler shared his plans to expand the system to his other locations in the future: “With its advanced features and reliable performance, the CIA system has become a valuable asset in our pursuit of streamlined operations and improved service delivery. I’d recommend INSOMNIAC CIA in a heartbeat because it exists silently within our business model without any headaches.”
