A New Style of self Storage Facility is Being Developed on Fruitville Road in Sarasota
Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) March 16, 2010 — Construction is underway on a new type of self-storage facility on Fruitville Road east of I-75 where customers will be able to rent any of the 370 storage spaces or make rent payments day or night using a ‘kiosk” located at the facility, the developer says.
Veteran self-storage developer Steve Wilson said it will be the most user-friendly self-storage facility in this area. The facility will not have a traditional manager, but customers will be able to get “live” help by using a phone at the kiosk which is connected to a call center.
Wilson is the founder and managing partner of the 12-site Hide-Away Storage chain with locations in Sarasota, Bradenton, St. Petersburg, Ft. Myers and Naples. The new Fruitville facility has separate ownership from Hide-Away Storage, he said.
He said customers will have their own individual gate code and can enter the facility at any time, rather than having to conform to limited “gate hours” at traditional storage facilities. The new facility will all be on one floor and about half of the spaces will be air conditioned and the other half will be traditional garages.
Wilson said Northern Trust Co.’s Chris Romine arranged the financing and Mike Carter Construction of Bradenton is doing the building. He said Carter expects to have the new facility ready for its first renters by late July.
