(April 21, 2020) – Phoenix, AZ. OpenTech Alliance, the leading developer of innovative smart-connected technology solutions for the self storage industry, announced the launch of their PTI® keypad integration. The new integration allows operators to connect existing PTI® Apex or VP keypads to INSOMNIAC CIA and upgrade access control at any facility with the industry’s leading cloud-based solution.

 

Self storage owners and operators across the industry have expressed significant interest in an integration of this nature. “This will allow us to roll out touchless gate access at a much faster pace utilizing some of our existing equipment,” stated Randy Weissman, VP of Operations at iStorage. Touchless entry has been well received by our customers, especially in light of the current situation caused by COVID-19.” As remote solutions quickly become a key focus of many operational strategies, this integration provides an option for those operators also facing restrictions on capital spending.

 

“OpenTech has always been dedicated to providing open solutions allowing integrations with devices and software from different vendors,” stated Jon Loftin, OpenTech VP and IoE Product Owner. “While the INSOMNIAC CIA keypads have been designed to address maintenance, installation and functionality issues with older self storage access control systems, we realize that some operators need the benefits of cloud-based access control without the additional cost of replacing all of their keypads.”

 

Operators can benefit from migrating these older technology keypads to a cloud-based system; however, the older keypads do not have all of the features and functionality that is included with CIA. These additional features include: (1) the ability for tenants to enter the property hands-free with the Bluetooth-enabled Storage Genie tenant mobile app; (2) the ability for tenants to utilize text me my code functionality to receive their access code via their mobile number; (3) predictive maintenance alerts after usage from gate operators; (4) encrypted communication between the Gateway and keypads; and (5) access code configuration at keypads. 

 

Operators who invest in the integration can take advantage of select platform integrations available on the IoE platform to enhance property management and analytics. Supported integrations include HVAC management, an Alexa skill, call center integration, INSOMNIAC SmartGate (Gate Analytics) and INSOMNIAC SmartDoor (Office Analytics), some available at no additional cost. To access full functionality and integrations available on the IoE platform, operators can upgrade their keypads to an INSOMNIAC CIA model at any time.*

 

With this upgrade operators can move to a true cloud-based access control system that allows them to gain insights into renter’s behaviors and streamline business operations. The integration to INSOMNIAC CIA grants operators access to the IoE Control Center and eliminates the computer problems and never-ending software updates that they experience with older PC-based solutions.

 

The IoE Control Center enables operators to remotely open or close a gate, hold a gate open and emergency open all gates. Reports and real-time data visualization provide critical insights into tenant behaviors such as popular times on property, length of tenant visits, tenant access events and more. These insights have been successfully employed to enhance facilities’ revenue management, settle tenant disputes, optimize staffing schedules and more. 

 

This new module is the tenth integration of many to be supported by the OpenTech IoE platform.
