OpenTech Alliance Expands IoE Ecosystem with Webhooks, Giving Operators Direct Access to Facility Events and Tenant Activity

IoE Ecosystem

OpenTech Alliance, the global PropTech leader in self storage, has released webhooks within its Internet of Everything (IoE) ecosystem, enabling operators and technology partners to receive and act on facility events as they occur.

This release reflects OpenTech’s continued focus on building an open, adaptable ecosystem that works alongside the tools operators already use. By giving operators direct, free access to event-level data, webhooks make it easier to automate processes, reduce manual oversight, and respond to what’s happening across a facility with speed and confidence.

Syncing Facility Events Across Your Self Storage Software

With webhooks, operators and vendors can subscribe to specific activity across a property—such as gate access events, unit unlocks, motion detected inside a unit, overlocks applied, repeated keypad code attempts, or access attempts by delinquent tenants—and send that data directly into their own systems. This allows teams to trigger alerts, update workflows, or push data into reporting tools without relying on manual checks or delayed reports.

OpenTech’s IoE platform connects solutions including INSOMNIAC® CIA access control, INSOMNIAC SmartLock® electronic locks, the INSOMNIAC OpenNet™ wireless mesh network, and INSOMNIAC SmartMotion™ tenant alerting into a single Control Center. Webhooks extend that platform by allowing operators to move data beyond the Control Center and into the systems they use to manage their business day-to-day.

IoE Control Center Dashboard Training

Operators already rely on CIA and our IoE platform to manage access, locks, and activity across their properties. Webhooks take it a step further. Instead of logging in to check what happened, they can have key events—like a unit being accessed or a device going offline—automatically trigger the next action in their operation.

Building Stronger Systems Through Webhooks

One example of this capability in action comes from Australia, where Alarmquip Security Systems has integrated OpenTech’s webhooks with its monitoring platform to deliver unit-level alarm intelligence.

With the rise of illegal tobacco and vape storage across Australia, knowing exactly where an alarm has been triggered is no longer a luxury, it’s critical. By leveraging OpenTech’s webhooks and integrating with the IoE Control Center, we’re able to deliver precise, unit-level alarm data as it happens. Security teams can identify the exact unit in alarm and respond immediately, while operators gain a level of visibility and control that wasn’t previously possible.

Beyond alarm response, operators can use webhooks to monitor device health, flag unusual activity, and connect IoE data to internal dashboards or third-party platforms. For example, repeated failed code attempts at a keypad can trigger an alert to staff, motion activity inside a unit can be flagged for follow-up, or an access attempt by a delinquent tenant can be logged and surfaced for review.

Unify Your Self Storage Software Through The IoE Ecosystem

Webhooks are available to operators and vendors using IoE solutions free of charge and can be easily accessed in the OpenTech API developer portal. Operators attending the Inside Self Storage Expo in Las Vegas can learn more about how to leverage webhooks and the full IoE ecosystem at Booth 639.
