Larry Gorman joins OpenTech Alliance as new Chief Technology Officer to Lead Next Phase of Innovation

PropTech veteran will guide the company’s expanding use of artificial intelligence

OpenTech Alliance, the PropTech leader in self storage, announced Larry Gorman as successor to replace Davin Dameron, the company’s founding Chief Technology Officer, who will be retiring at the end of the year. Gorman joined the company in May to guide its AI innovation strategy and help shape the next generation of open solutions for self storage operators.

Gorman brings more than 25 years of experience leading technology organizations across hospitality, single-family residential and multifamily real estate. His career includes overseeing the development and global expansion of a cloud-based property management system, integrating systems for large real estate portfolios and building AI-powered leasing solutions. He has also led cross-functional teams responsible for product strategy, engineering and commercialization, giving him a practical understanding of how innovation must connect to business outcomes.

A company will only ever have one Davin Dameron, aka The Wizard. We will miss him and wish him all the best retirement has to offer. Larry is a great fit for our culture. His hands-on experience of successfully transforming tech teams into well-oiled machines and developing AI customer-facing applications is exactly what we need at OpenTech. I am confident he will execute our vision and create meaningful value for our customers.

Leading AI Innovation Across the INSOMNIAC® Ecosystem

Gorman’s initial priorities include implementing an AI based Software Development Lifecycle, speeding up the new feature and product delivery timelines, defining future state architecture and creating a more agile foundation for responding to customer and market needs. Artificial intelligence is an important part of OpenTech’s future. The company plans to evaluate AI-enabled capabilities that simplify facility management, reduce friction across the tenant journey and help operators make better use of their data. The company will also incorporate AI into internal development processes to improve efficiency and shorten the path from an identified customer need to a market-ready solution.

Self storage has many of the same opportunities I have seen across other real estate sectors, particularly around automation, self-service and centralized operations. OpenTech already has a strong tech foundation, a respected industry presence and a talented group of engaged people. I am excited to join the team and leverage my lessons learned to help our customers generate higher returns on their investment in our solutions.
