PHOENIX, Arizona – July 4th, 2015 – OpenTech announced today that the “Freedom Act” passed by Freedom Self Storage 24-7 last year has been a great success. In August 2014, self storage owners James & Darcey Widmann installed the INSOMNIAC® Kiosk at their storage business in the greater Des Moines area of Carlisle Iowa to ensure their customers had the Freedom to do business when it was most convenient for them. Less than a year later, the kiosk has already accounted for completing over 30% of all new move-ins and payments at the 133 unit facility.
James said, “The kiosk fits our Freedom brand 100% and demonstrates our commitment to freedom. Guests who want and expect service in person can always use our front desk and those who prefer self-serve can use the kiosk 24-7. A place where freedom of choice meets self storage is what we’re about.”
The property represents a 15 year dream for the Widmann’s. Before purchasing their first property, they researched what people liked and didn’t like when doing business in Carlisle. They discovered many residents preferred the freedom that self-service systems provide. The Widmann’s felt the kiosk would help to meet those desires when it came to the business schedule of their corporate tenants and new generation renters.
“We had to find a way to adjust to their schedule and negotiate a plan for our freedoms also. The most practical way to accomplish that was by purchasing the kiosk,” added James. The husband and wife team has plans to open three more properties for their children & families with a kiosk at each location.
