OpenTech Alliance, the global PropTech leader in self storage, has announced an expanded investment in the Asia-Pacific self storage market, formally broadening its existing Australia and New Zealand territory to support operators across the broader APAC region.
The expansion reflects the company’s continued commitment to supporting self storage operators across the region with connected technologies designed to improve operational visibility, tenant experience, and portfolio scalability. As part of the investment, OpenTech has also expanded its APAC team with the addition of Simon Neylan as Business Development Manager, joining Gavin Koorey, Director of APAC.
OpenTech has also established local inventory warehousing in Australia to better support deployments, reduce delivery timelines, and provide stronger regional infrastructure for customers adopting solutions across the INSOMNIAC® IoE Ecosystem, including INSOMNIAC CIA access control, SmartLock electronic locks, SmartMotion™ unit motion alerts, and the OpenNet™ wireless mesh network.
Operators across APAC are moving quickly toward more connected, data-driven facility operations, and we believe this market will continue to play a major role in the future of self storage technology. Expanding our regional presence is about more than growth; it’s about building long-term partnerships, investing locally, and ensuring operators have access to the infrastructure, support and innovation they need.
Robert A. Chiti, CEO of OpenTech Alliance
The announcement comes ahead of the Self Storage Expo Asia 2026 Bangkok, put on by the Self Storage Association of Asia (SSAA), taking place May 19–21. OpenTech leadership will be onsite at the event meeting with operators and partners throughout the region. Chiti will also participate in the conference panel discussion, Mastering Digital Transformation, focused on evolving customer expectations, technology adoption, integrations, and the role digital strategy plays in the future of self storage operations.
Kristi Adams, CRO and President of International at OpenTech Alliance, said the expansion reflects growing momentum across international markets as operators increasingly prioritize connected systems and centralized operational intelligence.
Operators across APAC are looking beyond standalone products and toward platforms that help unify how their facilities operate. What we’re seeing is a growing focus on systems that reduce operational friction, improve visibility across sites and create a better experience for both staff and tenants. That’s where we believe the IoE ecosystem delivers real value as operators scale and modernise their facilities.
Kristi Adams, CRO of OpenTech Alliance
OpenTech Alliance’s INSOMNIAC IoE ecosystem is designed to connect access control, smart devices, operational data, and tenant-facing technologies into a single platform that gives operators greater visibility and control across their facilities.
