January 31, 2020 – Phoenix, AZ. OpenTech Alliance, the leading developer of innovative smart-connected technology solutions for the self storage industry, announced the launch of INSOMNIAC® Unit Alarms, a new integration for OpenTech’s intelligent platform of smart-connected self storage solutions, OpenTech IoE (Internet of Everything). INSOMNIAC Unit Alarms provides owners and operators the ability to quickly and easily upgrade older individual unit door alarm systems without the need to rewire the property.
INSOMNIAC Unit Alarms provides a 96-input individual unit alarm board to connect wired unit alarms to the INSOMNIAC Gateway and integrate to the cloud-based OpenTech IoE. This allows operators to maintain their initial investment while taking advantage of the data and real-time reporting available within the OpenTech IoE Control Center. Unit Alarms provide an alert (siren, email and text message) if a unit door is opened without a tenant entering their access code, providing increased security for tenant belongings. The real-time reporting available within the OpenTech IoE Control Center lets staff quickly view the status of all unit alarms at a facility and manage issues from any Internet-enabled device.
“INSOMNIAC Unit Alarms is another example of our commitment to designing open solutions for our self storage partners,” stated Jon Loftin, Vice President and IoE Product Owner at OpenTech Alliance. “This new integration, like many others developed for the OpenTech IoE platform, enables operators to choose the best solutions for their operations. Operators can now leverage the data available and advantages afforded by a cloud-based system. But they aren’t losing their initial investment in systems that help keep their tenants’ belongings safe – they’re simply enhancing it.”
This new module is the ninth integration of many to be supported by the OpenTech IoE platform. Other integrations include: INSOMNIAC CIA (Cloud-based access control); INSOMNIAC SmartEye (Security monitoring); INSOMNIAC SmartDoor (Office analytics); INSOMNIAC SmartGate (Gate Analytics); HVAC; Call Center; DaVinci Locks and an Alexa skill.
The INSOMNIAC Unit Alarms integration is compatible with most existing door alarm systems designed for the self storage industry (including PTI, DigiTech and Sentinel). The upgrade brings no additional monthly cost and includes a low cost one-time setup fee (purchase of an INSOMNIAC Gateway, Unit Alarm board and Setup, Training and Customization fee of $99 per facility). A new enclosure may also be required, dependent on the door alarm system in use.
