OpenTech Adds Water Sensor Integration to IoE Platform

Phoenix, AZ –  OpenTech Alliance, the leading developer of innovative smart connected technology solutions for the self storage industry, announced a new integration for their intelligent platform of smart-connected self storage solutions, the OpenTech IoE (Internet of Everything). The new integration helps operators find water leaks on their storage property to prevent significant damage to their facility and loss of customer goodwill from the destruction of tenant belongings.

Using inexpensive, off-the-shelf sensors and the power of the IoE, operators can monitor their property for water leaks, common around elevator shafts, water heaters and pipes. Set alerts from the IoE Control Center to receive a text message or email before a small water leak becomes a major issue.

The water sensor integration gives operators peace-of-mind that their property is protected from damage around the clock, without the need to implement an expensive solution. Your off-the-shelf sensors can be wired directly to either the IoE Gateway or an INSOMNIAC® CIA access control keypad – meaning there’s no need to worry about an external power source or WiFi connectivity throughout the building. This integration is a benefit for traditional manned and unattended facilities alike.

“OpenTech is committed to continuously improving our solutions for property owners and storage customers,” stated Jon Loftin, OpenTech VP and IoE Product Owner. “Anyone who’s ever dealt with a water leak knows the utter devastation it can bring – prevention is always the best option. This integration provides another layer of protection for our operators’ biggest assets – their storage property, and their reputation – in a way that makes the solution affordable and easy to implement now.”

The OpenTech IoE platform is designed with an Open API, or Application Programming Interface, that allows for integration with systems and components from different suppliers so self storage operators can always choose the best solutions for their operations. This openness gives operators the confidence to implement any OpenTech solution today knowing they will have the freedom to integrate third-party devices in the future, if they choose.

This new module is the eleventh integration of many to be supported by the OpenTech IoE platform. Other integrations include: INSOMNIAC CIA (Access Control); INSOMNIAC SmartEye (Security Monitoring); INSOMNIAC SmartDoor (Office Analytics); INSOMNIAC SmartGate (Gate Analytics); INSOMNIAC Unit AlarmsHVACCall Center; an Alexa skillDavinci Locks, and PTI® Keypads.

The water sensor integration is available at no additional charge for OpenTech INSOMNIAC CIA customers. The integration is compatible with any off-the-shelf water sensor. Find information about OpenTech’s recommended sensor, available for less than $30 at time of publication, here.
