Uncle Sam Giving BIG Money Back on Kiosk & ILock Purchases

UncleSam

PHOENIX, Arizona – August, 22nd, 2012 OpenTech Alliance, Inc. announced INSOMNIAC™ Kiosks and the ILock System qualify for an additional tax deduction under the IRS Tax Code Section 179. The Tax Act effectively reduces the cost of a kiosk by 35%. Today, Section 179 is one of a few incentives contained in the recent Stimulus Package that actually helps small business. Section 179 of the IRS tax code allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment and software on purchased or financed leased plans, during the current tax year. Limit on equipment purchases is $560,000 and also includes a Bonus Depreciation at 50%.

131 Days until Section 179 Deadline

Tax savings are scheduled to expire on December 31st of this year. Order now and start renting more units by the end of the year.

Jerry Jones, “The Self Storage CPA”, represents a specialized accounting & tax advising group that has spread the map to become a reckoning force in the self storage industry. Said Jones, “Section 179, better known as let’s write it off this year, is a great deal for self storage owners. If you are considering a kiosk or any type of automated equipment, what better ROI can you have, than being able to write it off (100%) in the current year, and collecting rents up front? There are guidelines you need to follow. The allowance is also very useful when you are using Cost Segregation and the property you are using is not ‘original use’. Taking advantage of this tax savings may just be the best financial decision you make in 2012.”

INSOMNIAC Kiosks range in pricing from $1,500 to $18,000. Under Section 179, a purchase will yield savings that run from $525 up to $6,300 per kiosk! The following is an example of Tax Savings related to the purchase of an INSOMNIAC 570 kiosk at a 35% tax bracket. Also illustrated is a case in savings connected with the purchase of the INSOMNIAC ILock System (300 unit doors).

Cost of INSOMNIAC 570 Kiosk: $13,250.00

Cost of INSOMNIAC ILock System: $33,700.00

Section 179 Deduction: $13,250.00

Section 179 Deduction: $33,700.00

Cash Savings on Purchase: $4,637.50

Cash Savings on Purchase: $11,795.00

Cost of Kiosk after Savings: $8,612.50

Cost of System after Savings: $21,905.00

To qualify for the deduction, a kiosk and locking system must be in operation by the end of the 2012 calendar year. To learn more about Section 179, visit www.section179.org or contact Jerry at jerry@jerryjonescpa.com or call 775-828-0767.

OpenTech to Unveil ILock at SSA Show in Caesars Palace

PHOENIX, Arizona – August 17th, 2012, OpenTech Alliance, Inc. announced it has partnered with PTI Security Systems Inc. to be the exclusive distributor for their electronic unit door locking system – now branded the INSOMNIAC ILock. The strategic partnership combines PTI’s quality manufacturing capabilities with OpenTech’s sales and service infrastructure. The INSOMNIAC ILock will be formally unveiled at the upcoming SSA Fall Conference & Trade Show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, September 5-7 (booths 414-420).

The wireless, battery powered ILock secures the door on individual self storage units by preventing movement of the hasp to the open position. The multi-talented technology performs much like an on-site security guard to the extent that the system is nicknamed MAXX. Megan’s little brother, MAXX, provides an added level of security that helps self storage operators differentiate their facility and increase rental rates. He also provides individualized unit security & access, automated overlocking and protection for vacant units.

Over the past two years, the system has established a proven track record of providing operators with an impressive return on their investment. Chris Aiken, owner of Safe Place Self Storage in New Hampshire, gives the ILock high marks. “The decision to install a security & access system, inside the gate, has been a game-changer due to our business model,” stated Chris. “Simply put, our old school manual tasks related to security, access and facility management on premise has been replaced with modern automation. The INSOMNIAC ILock system is ideal for traditional facilities and will become a true lifesaver to people with remote sites,” added Aiken.

Bill Schubert, owner of My Stuff Storage in Clinton Tennessee, takes pride in offering the most technologically advanced, secure & customer friendly facility in the region. The all indoor storage complex was built to run exclusively with the ILock. “My Stuff Storage operates using self service automation and minimal staff,” stated Schubert. “The INSOMNIAC kiosk and ILock limits our payroll expense to 2-4 man hours per week and offers our customers a secure experience when renting and making payments. The technology allows us to operate 365 days a year, without being in the office all the time. And, if an existing tenant becomes past due, they cannot just tailgate into the facility, gain access to their unit and vacate the property with an outstanding account balance. By leveraging technology, My Stuff Storage is on track to become profitable within our first year of operation,” added Schubert.

About PTI Security Systems: Established in 1979 and with over 25,000 systems installed in over 30 different countries PTI has proven itself to be the World Standard for Self Storage Security and Access Control. Self Storage customers recognize PTI’s branded Digitech and PTI controllers, Keypads and Software as complete end to end solutions integrating the latest technology to help secure and efficiently control access and security to all types of site configurations.
